 PURPOSE/AIM
 
The purpose of this exhibit is: 1. To demonstrate usefulness of multiplanar images of MDCT in the diagnosis of the site of bowel obstruction. 2. To characterize the specific causes of small bowel obstruction. 3. To demonstrate the findings of complicated loops due to small bowel obstruction.

 SUMMARY
 
The major teaching points of this exhibit are 1. Evolution of computed tomographic imaging into the multi-detector channel has brought the greater advance in the evaluation small intestine. 2. The exact site of cause of small bowel obstruction can be more easily detected through the multiplanar images. 3. Complicated bowel loops such as closed loop obstruction or strangulation are able to be more easily discriminated from the normal bowel loop.
