  LEARNING OBJECTIVES
  1) Instruct radiologists to teach and communicate with latest in multimedia distribution technology by simplifying and automating the creation of interactive Macromedia Flash™ modules. 2) Evaluate the feasibility of this process in teaching medical students and in generating reports.

  ABSTRACT
Faculty radiologists were offered the opportunity to create interactive modules from CT and MRI studies using software we developed to automate the production of interactive Macromedia Flash™ modules. Some modules were learning exercises for medical students, containing didactics and allowing the students to experience studies through a simulated PACS interface. Others were directed at physicians, serving as interactive radiology reports, allowing them to look through the studies with relevant findings marked and annotated with radiologists’ interpretations. Radiologists were asked to complete a questionnaire about their experience, through which they expressed approval of the interactive modules created. Medical students also preferred these learning modules to more traditional teaching materials. Further automation, however, such as direct integration into PACS and dictation software, would be necessary before the process could be considered for creating reports on a regular basis.
